KitchenKai is our AI kitchen companion: it knows your pantry, your family, and your week, and answers "what's for dinner?" in seconds. Spring 2026 was a big stretch. Here is what shipped.
7.0: a leaner, smarter assistant
As Chef Kai learned more skills, its core instructions kept growing, and a bigger brain is a slower, less predictable one. In 7.0 we rebuilt how it thinks: a lean core that loads a task-specific playbook only when it needs one (planning a week, importing a recipe, building a grocery list). The result is faster replies and more consistent behavior.
Imported recipes now credit their original creators too, so a recipe from a YouTube cook carries their name and a link back.
Chef Kai on every public recipe
Anyone viewing a public recipe can now ask Chef Kai to adapt it, swapping an ingredient or scaling servings, right on the page with no account needed. It is the fastest way to show what the assistant can do.
Chef Kai in Facebook Messenger (beta)
You can now message Chef Kai on Facebook for recipe ideas, import a recipe just by sharing a link, and connect the chat to your KitchenKai account. And when something needs a human, Chef Kai can hand billing or account issues straight to support.
Community and discovery
- Photo galleries: cooks add their own photos to any recipe, and everyone sees the favorites first.
- Comments: with replies and heart counts, plus a cleaner recipe view with large photos and one-tap actions.
- Smarter search: full-text search with ranked results and shared filters.
- Fair-use limits: weekly allowances for AI features on the free tier, enforced on the server, so free stays sustainable.
What this means for your business
The same approach powers assistants we build for clients: AI that works with your live data, takes real actions, knows when to hand off to a person, and stays fast as it grows.
